Open the Door ~ A Journey to the True Self will guide us through the coming year together. Joyce Rupp, beloved author and spiritual guide explores the rich image of the door as an invitation to growth and awareness. Discovering the many ways that doors are a potent symbol for spiritual growth, she leads readers to search more deeply for their authentic selves in fuller union with God. We will discover that there is seemingly no end to the insights that the image of the door can yield and that opening a door of the heart reveals the vast treasure of who we are and how the sacred is present within us. Sometimes to find that which we seek, we must simply be still... and wait. During the Advent season we symbolically participate in the waiting of the patriarchs, kings, and prophets; we groan with Isaiah; we cry out with Zechariah; we pray with Mary, Adam, Job, Hannah, Solomon, Micah and others, named and unnamed, who yearned for something more complete and more "real" than what they knew.
As we seek to find the Lord, we will 'do' the work of vigilant waiting, of quieting, of stilling.

Our Lenten Journey takes us from Ash Wednesday to Calvary and beyond to the Easter Garden. We know the flow of the season - perhaps too well. It is time to reflect on what kind of journey we are making. Together we will walk the way of Jesus as He reveals and unfolds the heart of our journey within his journey.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION SYMPOSIUM
Sr. Nancy Iampietro, CPS and the Mariawald Staff will offer an eighteen month certificate program in Spiritual Direction starting in January 2012. This Symposium will be open to those who experience an inner call to journey with others and would like to discern this call through a program of spiritual enrichment, formation and training. This non-degree/monthly program offers an opportunity to LISTEN to your own heart and your personal life experience in the context of relationships with God, yourself and others. 1st & 3rd Thursday every month from 1:00 - 3:00 PM
Skeins & Scones is the Prayer Shawl ministry of Mariawald. While sharing an afternoon of tea, beautiful prayer shawls are crafted in a spirit of prayer and caring. More than a garment for warmth, the prayer shawl becomes a presence for the person wrapped in its softness. Primarily, it is the presence of the person who lovingly knit it; but ultimately through our prayer the shawl comes to signify the presence of God who holds all in an eternal embrace of love and healing.
