           Ecumenical Bereavement Program

Life after loss makes one feel distracted or as though you can’t focus on anything other than your loss/grief. The Ecumenical bereavement is a program of Mariawald Renewal Center designed to help people better understand the process of grief and how to live through it in a way that is healing. The program is based on the writings and research Elizabeth Kibler-Ross and world-renowned source for understanding the journey of grief. The program aims to provide a place to share experiences and to support one other. Each six-week session is a combination of presentation, discussion, sharing, and enriching rituals. Led by trained facilitators with knowledge of bereavement and grief support, the sessions are open to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, and there is no charge for the program.
The ecumenical bereavement is a six week program which runs three times a year.

      Growing Older Gracefully Weekend Retreat

Diane Koopman said it best “Aging is inevitable, but to grow old gracefully is a choice.” Chittister points out that “Old age is not when we stop growing. It is exactly the time to grow in new ways. It is the period in which we set out to make sense of all the growing we have already done. It is the softening season when everything in us is meant to achieve its sweetest, richest, most unique self."
In the face of our physical diminishment and other daily challenges, time seems to be moving away from us; yet there is a need to make room and reconcile with the reality of time. Let us together explore, reflect, and discuss on the life’s journey of growing older and ponder on what God might be calling us to.
     • Is old age when we stop growing and dreaming?
     • What has been helping us age with grace and courage?
     • What are our dreams and goal?

This is a weekend program which runs twice a year

3. Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is the process of accompanying people on their spiritual journey.
In the midst of this fast-paced world, people find it difficult to be aware of God’s action in their daily lives
and in simple everyday events.
The spiritual director is there to listen and reflect through conversation on one’s relationship with God.
Gradually, you learn to recognize God’s tender and powerful presence in your life.
You discover that God has been waiting for you to look for this closer relationship.

Spiritual Direction is offered at Mariawald Renewal Center by formally trained directors with whom you may meet privately
and confidentially on a one-time or continuing basis during retreats and/or outside of retreats

For more information or to make arrangements to start spiritual direction,
please contact us at mariawaldrenewal@gmail.com or 610-777-0135.
